Panel- Being a Science Observer on the International Stage
Multiple Speakers
11:00 am – 12:00 pm MDT
Attending international United Nations climate meetings as science observers is essential for interacting with global communities discussing strategies for mitigation and adaptation. We aim to understand their needs from, and better communicate, the latest, cutting-edge science. For this panel event, we discuss our experiences at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) meetings, such as the COP (“Conference of Parties”) and intersessional meetings, as UCAR science observers. As science observers we are not policy advocates. Our purpose is to both communicate and receive knowledge in support of weather, water, and climate science needs, globally. The format will be a moderated discussion, followed by a Q&A session from audience members.
